![]() ![]() It's more suited to heavier styles of music, and will be more compressed than the amp you're currently using. Like its more stripped down sibling, the Crush 35RT features footswitchable Clean and Dirty channels plus high gain with a great overdriven and distorted. I would highly suggest staying away from the Blackstar stuff. The Orange Crush 35RT builds on the tonal platform of the Crush 20 with the inclusion of lush onboard reverb and an integrated chromatic tuner, both great features to find on a practise amp. I would suggest final settings around: 12o'clock on the gain, and 1 to 3 o'clock on the master volume with your guitar on 10, then back the guitar volume down to 7 or 8 for a clearer sound. You want to be sure to keep the gain knob down low. If it's just too loud, then bring the master down a smidge from full volume until you achieve the volume you want. Now with your guitar volume on 10 bring the gain up slowly until you get to a level you feel comfortable with. ![]() Switch to the dirty channel and turn the gain all the way to 0 and the master volume all the way up. Our new twin channel, high gain preamp coupled to a beefier 35Watt output. I have wondered if a Blackstar HT1 or HT5 (1 or 5 watt valve combo) would suit more as it is much lower wattage so could be cranked higher.īit of a ramble but don't want to waste money if I already have something that with a little tweaking I can get to sound the way I want. I use Strats and Teles and mostly use the neck pickups. The dirty channel, although dirty if gain is turned up and volume on guitar down a bit, but it just doesn't have the sparkly highs that the clean channel has.ĭoes anyone have experience of this amp? Can I get a crisper sound using the dirty channel on the amp, should I switch to a pedal, or should I try a new amp? I cannot get this sound at all from the clean channel on the amp, it is just so clean and I work at living room levels so can't crank it. I now know that the tone I'm looking for is that dirty Texas blues, broken up sound, but not distorted, just dirty. I have an Orange Crush 35rt solid state combo which I bought a few years ago, before I really knew what sort of sound I was looking for. ![]()
